Conor Daly to D&R for the 500

The Brickyard's local boy is back once again

Another name officially entered the fight to win the 110th Indianapolis 500 Wednesday, as part-time team Dreyer & Reinbold Racing unveiled Conor Daly as their second entrant.

“Having a chance to go racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway again at Indy 500 [sic] with DRR means the world to me,” Daly said in an official press release. “I love this event. I can’t wait to get back in the car, and I appreciate the chance that Dennis (Reinbold) and everyone at Dreyer & Reinbold Racing has given me to do the job I enjoy.”

It’s an unsurprising development, given both Daly’s availability as a Juncos Hollinger Racing reserve driver and his track record at the Brickyard. He’s finished inside the top 10 at the last four consecutive runnings, including his previous appearance with Dreyer & Reinbold in 2024. Daly will pilot the #23 and replaces Ryan Hunter-Reay, who led 48 laps with that car last year and therefore leaves behind good reason to be optimistic. Another strong performance could also help his ambitions of getting back on the track, especially when you consider that his main employer tried and failed to get rid of Sting Ray Robb over the last offseason.

This officially makes 31 names on the board for the biggest race of the year. That count includes Takuma Sato, who Honda listed as a Rahal Letterman Lanigan driver in their yearly motorsports overview, but hasn’t received his big unveiling from RLL yet. The only questions left to settle are who’ll drive the fourth car at Andretti, whether Prema will appear, and, if Prema doesn’t show, who might field another entry to ensure a full grid of 33.
